We shoot show footage and behind-the-scenes footage at both the Melody Tent and our sister venue the South Shore Music Circus on Cohasset. We don’t put all the videos in tradition blog posts so keep an eye on Tent TV so you don’t miss anything. Or go back again and again to relive your favorite concerts and see your favorite artists!

Just posted to Tent TV: Hanson footage from the South Shore Music Circus; clips of Mickey Dolenz and The Turtles from the Happy Together Tour show

The 25th Anniversary of the Happy Together Tour promised some big names and an even bigger list of hit songs, and the five-group tour didn’t dissappoint.

Get a run down of each performer (and the great insider stories they told) in this Cape Cod Times review of the Tour’s Saturday stop at the Melody Tent.

Hanson stopped by the Melody Tent on Friday night as part of their new Shout It Out tour and the fans where there too cheer them on. They’ve certainly grown since the “Mmmbop” days of the mid-1990s, but according to the Cape Cod Times they’re just as cute and their music is definitely worth a revisit, whether you liked “Mmmbop” or not!

Whether performing the still-catchy “MMMBop” or slowing it down to an acoustic, bongo-enhanced jam, the boys of Hanson deserve the opportunity to be taken seriously.

If you closed your eyes and listened to Bret Michaels last night, you might think you were back at an arena show, decked out in acid washed jeans and drenched in Aqua Net.

That’s the very first thing a Cape Cod Times reviewer (Linda Corcoran) had to say about Bret Michaels’ July 18 show at the Melody Tent. And for a singer who came of age and reached fame in the 80s, it’s one heck of a compliment!

This past Sunday marked Bret’s first time at the Melody Tent, and the event drew fans from all over New England. We can only hope that Bret’s end-of-the-night promise to be back next year will come true with a 2011 tour!

HEADS UP: Check back tomorrow for some behind the scenes footage of Bret Michaels and the story of his new, blue, friend!

Huey Lewis jokes that he’s played at the Melody Tent 47 times, but Saturday’s show was anything but old and tired.

Veteran members of the News pounded away at songs that they know and love as if they were just being debuted. The crowd spent the night on their feet and couldn’t help but sing and dance along.

The show becomes a jam session when they play their new material, an a cappella show when Lewis and four other members sing quintet on “So Much In Love,” with vocals that would put a barbershop quartet to shame, and a pounding rock show when a hit such as “Heart and Soul” reverberates through the Melody Tent.
Whatever the band is doing, it’s a high-energy, electrifying show.

Read more about this high energy show in the Cape Cod Times review.

And check out this video from Huey’s performance at our sister venue, the South Shore Music Circus, on Sunday night!

Frankie Valli played to a sold out crowd at the Melody Tent on Friday and after more than 50 years in the music making business he still knows how to put on a show.

In case you couldn’t make it, check out the Cape Cod Times review to hear about Frankie still hitting those famous high notes, his thoughts on today’s music (hint: he perfers the songs on yesteryear), and his way of wooing the crowd.

If you close your eyes and listen to Valli’s sweet, high tenor, you’d never dream he made his first record 57 years ago at the age of 19. At 76, Valli still puts on a terrific concert.

We know you spend your week days counting down to the weekend, who doesn’t! This weekend at the Melody Tent is going to rock! We have a sold out Frankie Valli show, Huey Lewis & The News back by popular demand, and hard rocking heartthrob Bret Michaels!

B.B. King may be in his 80s now, but his music is as timeless as ever. King rocked the Tent on July 10 and according to the Cape Cod Times review, he’s still pitch perfect in every way.

When a musician has been playing the blues for more than 60 years as B.B. King has, the question is not so much “Has he done it?” but “Can he still do it?”

And the answer is yes. Yes, he can.

Melissa Etheridge is no stranger to the Cape Cod Melody Tent. But this year, instead of just her and her guitar, Ms. Etheridge brought along a slue of seasoned rockers. Check out what the Cape Cod Times had to say about Friday’s show:

It was hot in every sense of the word: the free sauna courtesy of Mother Nature; the wail of dueling guitars; the new rock star musicians and, most of all, the pure — at points, unearthly — Etheridge, whose voice and guitar-playing seem to emanate from her as naturally as breathing.

Boz Scaggs helped the audience get ready for the 4th of July in style at the Melody Tent on Saturday. Making himself a household name in the 1960s, Boz proved he still has what it takes to keep an audience on its feet and singing along!

For most of last night’s show, Scaggs and his band worked the hit train, opening with “Jo Jo,” bathed in purple mood lighting for “Harbor Lights,” flirting with disco on “Lowdown” and “Miss Sun,” and generating a big sing-along for the gambling man “Lido.”

Mary Chapin Carpenter kicked off the 4th of July weekend this year at the Cape Cod Melody Tent. Check out what the Cape Cod Times had to say about her first performance at the Tent in 3 years.

“Everybody was listening hard to the words of her songs, which really were more like travelogues through her life and times. They were listening, in part, because they could clearly hear her precisely chosen words in the balanced mix of instruments and voices and, in part, because she sang about such interesting topics.”
